Updating the taxonomy, phylogeny and biogeography of the aberrant genus Coenosopsia Malloch (Diptera: Anthomyiidae)

چکیده
Abstract Coenosopsia Malloch has eight known species distributed from southern North America to south-eastern South America. The of the genus are morphologically very homogeneous, and major differences remain in male terminalia. Remarkably, two main diagnostic characteristics Anthomyiidae absent this genus: setulae on ventral surface scutellum vein A 1 reaching wing margin. Some studies have attempted propose biogeographical narratives, primarily for Neotropical distribution genus. Herein, we describe three new north-eastern Brazil ( limeirai sp. nov.), ribeiroi central Mexico azteca nov.) present an identification key. In addition, updated phylogenetic analysis based morphological evidence, which recovered as monophyletic five synapomorphies four homoplasies. We also presented first hypothesis biogeographic methods (ancestral reconstruction character S-DIVA analyses), indicated a Mesoamerican origin

Phylogeny and biogeography of the genus Pelinoides Cresson (Diptera-Ephydridae)
A phylogenetic analysis of the 21 species of genus Pelinoides using 44 discrete morphological characters is presented. From the previous proposed three groups, pallipes, sulcatus and cyclocerus, the first is recovered. The sulcatus group appears as paraphyletic in terms of cyclocerus. Pelinoides is present in the Neotropical and Andean Regions and in the Transitional South American Zone. Four a...
متن کاملPhylogeny and biogeography of the genus Piezura Rondani (Diptera: Fanniidae)
The Holarctic genus Piezura Rondani (Diptera, Fanniidae) is reviewed. Phylogenetic relationships among the species in this group, as well as the biogeography of these species, are discussed on the basis of a cladistic analysis. Piezura graminicola shanxiensis Xue, Wang and Wu, 1998 is redescribed and elevated to species rank based on comparison of its morphology and phylogenetic relationships. ...
متن کاملPerspectives in taxonomy and phylogeny of the genus Astragalus (Fabaceae): a review
The genus Astragalus L. (Fabaceae) is reviewed from both phyloenetic and taxonomic points of view. As the largest genus of flowering plants it has attracted many researchers, but much work remains to be done. A short taxonomic history with special focus on infrageneric classification of the genus, a list of phylogenetic studies including the applied markers and sampling strategies as well a...
متن کاملRevision of the Neotropical genus Marbenia Malloch (Diptera: Periscelididae).
The Neotropical genus Marbenia Malloch is revised and now includes 3 species: Marbenia cinerea, sp. nov., Marbenia pallida, sp. nov. and Marbenia peculiaris Malloch, 1931. The genus is herein recorded from the amazonian region of South America (Bolivia, Brazil and Ecuador), and characters of male and female terminalia are illustrated for the first time.
متن کاملPhylogeny and taxonomy of the genus Gliocephalotrichum
Species in the genus Gliocephalotrichum (= Leuconectria) (Hypocreales, Nectriaceae) are soilborne fungi, associated with post-harvest fruit spoilage of several important tropical fruit crops. Contemporary taxonomic studies of these fungi have relied on morphology and DNA sequence comparisons of the internal transcribed spacer region of the nuclear rDNA (ITS) and the β-tubulin gene regions. Empl...
